Specs
The Safeguard Rodent Trap is perfectly sized for mice, voles, chipmunks, flying squirrels, etc.  It measures 10"L x 3"W x 3"H and is solidly constructed of galvanized sheet metal. It has a positive locking rear door for easy baiting and animal removal. It has a zero-clearance entry door, meaning the spring-loaded door folds into the trap, and the trigger/pan assembly can be set as sensitively as needed for an effective capture. It has holes for air circulation in the top and sides of the trap. If you're looking for an alternate to the Sherman-type traps you will find these to be an attractive replacement.

A better mouse trap
Al Walker (NC) | June 20th, 2023
I purchased 2 of these several years ago when I noticed the seedlings I started in the basement under grow lights were vanishing shortly after sprouting. These traps caught the mice I never knew were down there. I bought 2 more to take care of issues in the garage as well. These work very well and I recommend them to anyone who wants to take care of mice problems without killing them.

What a great trap!!
Dale | July 10th, 2021
Purchased two and they were instantly productive. Easy to repair if they get run over by the riding mower. Don't ask me how I know... Can't wait to modify per some of the other reviews - thanks people. I do wish there was a quantity discount, I'd buy a dozen or more. Highly recommend it! If you don't like this trap, you should send it to me.

Best rodent trap on the market
Jeff Laney | July 5th, 2021
I own a couple dozen. I have caught hundreds of chipmunks , voles and flying squirrels. Peanut butter and sunflower seeds for bait with a little smear of peanut butter above the entrance. I consider them one of the best tools of my trade.

Easily modified lever trap
P C | February 16th, 2021
My go-to rodent trap. I have over a dozen of these, several of which have lasted well over 10 years. The sheet metal design makes it very easy to modify the lever shape/trigger sensitivity by hand. In addition, I have had these traps smashed by horses multiple times and they are incredibly easy to reassemble without tools. \n\nMy process for modifying these traps is: 1) twist a loop of wire through the grate on the top of the trap so that it hangs like a hoop over the trigger lever; this forces smaller rodents to walk the trigger instead of leaping over it. 2) Duct/gaffer tape over the top grates to keep the interior from getting wet when placed outdoors. 3) bend the long trigger pad slightly by hand to create a a subtle upwards curve shape that bottlenecks rodents into activating the lever. 4) if using loose bait like grain or seeds, use folded duct/gaffer tape to create a 1/2" wall immediately after the trigger lever. This will create an area between the trigger lever and the hinged door opposite the trap entrance that prevents loose bait from rolling underneath the trigger lever that could potentially keep the trap from activating. I have also JB welded a 1/2" long section of PVC pipe in this area to create a "bait dish," if you want to be fancy about it. Just be sure to gall the surface of the steel before using JB weld for the best results.\n\nThis model is the best platform I have found to create unbeatable modified live traps.

Best trap for mice & chipmonks
Bob Siegler | November 19th, 2020
This is the best quality trap in my opinion. Drill a hole and add a sheet metal screw to the top of the door to keep chipmunks from busting out. Some baits attract ants so I use sunflower seed which is good for mice, chipmunks and an occasional bird. Adding a brick on top also helps for chipmunks.

Excellent Product!
G T | August 14th, 2020
This is an excellent product. Enough flat metal to easily pick it up and sufficient holes to see inside. It's also very durable- I have an older one that still works after ten years. I was really glad to find it was still produced. Thanks for stocking it!

quick easy setup, precise action
John picone | July 16th, 2020
this trap is very easy to set, it latches very quickly and well. there was a little problem with a damaged part, but WCS replaced it right away and we caught that little chippy stinker with acorn paste and walnuts.
