I've had this trap for two weeks now and it's accounted for nine squirrels so far. We are overrun with Fox Squirrels and they cause a lot of damage to plantings and our garden. I've been using peanut butter as bait and it's working well. One modification I've made is to cap one end with metal window screen, placing the bait at the capped end requires the squirrel to cross the trigger vs taking bait off of it.

Worked first time I set it. Caught a red fox. Had no damage to the paw. To be honest, bit hard to set. But the result made it worth it.

This thing works great. I've been able to trap 8 gray squirrels in 10 days. 3 in one of those days. I would recommend getting the rust-resistant one as mine has already begun to show some rust. I will get the other one next! I used popcorn and peanut butter smeared on the roof, in the middle, and stuck the popcorn to the peanut butter.

Some very large palm rats relocated to our property when nearby fields were cleared. Being an animal shelter and needing a humane option, we took your advice and purchased the two small traps with covers and two different kinds of bait. In less than a week, we have relocated 16 palm rats to a new location where they will be much happier. Thank you for the excellent advice!
