Double Sided Butyl Tape is made of a super tacky butyl rubber that sticks well to most masonry surfaces and also polyethylene. Being a two sided tape, this will allow you to mount materials on vertical surfaces and will also create a seal. In some situations it can be used as an alternative to using nails and washers or screws to mechanically fasten the polyethylene liner or rigid foam insulation. At the same time, it can serve the purpose of sealing the liner or insulation board to the wall and eliminating the need for caulking.

Directions for attaching polyethylene or Insulation board to a wall or pier:First you need to firmly apply the tape to the masonry surface. Then pull the paper backing carefully off by pulling alongside of the wall (as opposed to away from the wall). Finally, apply the top edge of your liner (or foam board) to the face of the tape. You now have fastened the liner (or foam board) to the wall and also created a seal.
The amount you need is based on the Permieter Length of the entire space. Butyl Tape is a double-sided aggressive reinforced butyl rubber tape used to seal the vapor barrier to foundation walls. Butyl is non-hardening and flexible to provide a waterproof seal. It can also be used to join panels of vapor barrier together by overlapping the seams and applying the tape in between the layers.

Very poor adhesion. Prepped the concrete wall, but it just wouldn't stick to the concrete or the vapor barrier I was trying to attach. Sadly, just throwing out the additional rolls I purchased.
