It's back!! WCS is pleased to announce the return of the WCS™ Shorty Tube Trap™! This trap is a shorter version of the classic Rust Resistent Tube Trap, but with a few new advantages. Just like its big brother, it is treated with an electro-plating process which is black in color and is highly rust resistant. No need to dip, dye, or spray paint these traps. Just pull them out of the box and use them. This tunnel shaped trap is a very effective squirrel and rodent trap. Constructed of 21-gauge steel, the trap is 4.5 inches in diameter, 7.5" inches long, and is powered by a beefy double torsion spring. It now offers a zero clearance strike and its smaller size allows it to be used in spaces where larger traps just won't do. Used either baited or non-baited, the Shorty Tube Trap is a natural attractant to squirrels wanting to run through it or hide in it. Once the squirrel reaches the triggering pan in the middle of the trap, the double torsion spring triggers the strike bar. The WCS™ Shorty Tube Trap comes with a built in safety latch to prevent the trap from prematurely firing while setting. Caution: The Shorty Tube Trap is a LETHAL trap, use special care when and where setting.

IMPORTANTPlease stake down the trap to minimize possibility of theft by a larger animal, i.e., coyote.

Product Features

  • Rust resistant
  • 21-guage steel
  • 4.5" in diameter, 7.5" long

BAITING

There are two preferred ways of using the Tube Trap in a baited fashion. First, using your favorite paste type bait smear some directly onto the triggering pan of the Tube trap. For added appeal, press some bird seed of sunflower seeds into the paste bait. Then take a 1/4" piece of hardware cloth or screening and lay it on top of the triggering pan containing the bait and wrap the edges around the pan. The easiest way to do this is to grip it with your hand. This makes it harder for the squirrel to access the bait, and they have to work at it. The second baiting method involves smearing your favorite paste bait directly above the pan. To do this, turn the trap completely over, BEFORE SETTING IT, and smear the paste directly over the pan area. Then turn the trap back over and set it according to proper instructions. Again, this makes the squirrel work for the bait as they will be focused on the bait, not on the triggering pan.

Short Tube Trap
Kathy M. | February 14th, 2022
Large squirrels had finally gone too far. They chewed the truck wires to nest several years in a row. They chewed everything exterior with their teeth, and now had gotten into the attic. I attached the trap to a 2" x 4" with deck screws and then clamped that to the back fence. It took a day and a half before I figured how to eliminate one. They scampered through it at first and it did not go off. I finally figured the trigger was staying on too good. So I put wire mesh on the trigger plate like someone suggested and got one shortly after that. I put a walnut half under the mesh and a lot of peanut butter around that. They had to do a little more work and that did the trick. I also used the same walnut and peanut butter again. I also purchased the setter to hold down the lever and so glad I did. I always brought it in at night, to protect the other wildlife. I also clamped the trap mounted on the 2" x 4" down in the attic and finally caught the one that wouldn't evict itself. It took a lot of attempts to get that one, but the timing and location finally worked.

The Shorty Tube Trap (Rust Resistant) is a very effective way to control nuisance squirrels.

Very effective
Anonymous | December 21st, 2021
I bought two of these traps and placed them along a fence that squirrels frequently travel across. I've been getting 4-6+ squirrels every single day across the two. Highly effective. We have an extreme overpopulation problem, so your mileage may vary, but know that these will definitely get the job done.\n\nIt is instantly lethal about 90% of the time in my experience. 5% of the time the squirrel will pass within 5-10 minutes, and the remaining 5% I need to go finish it off (usually if only the lower back gets caught).\n\nA few recommendations on usage:\n- Cheap peanut butter has been very effective. I think they can smell it from far away.\n- Smear a bit on the plate, and some on the inside of the tube above the plate. They will stand on the plate to try to reach it.\n- I screwed the traps into the fence firmly, which I would recommend. The mechanism creates a lot of force.\n\nHighly, highly recommend this product to anyone with squirrel problems!

Excellent and versatile traps.
Hank Morales | August 16th, 2021
Excellent traps. We find the Shorty is more versatile therefore preferred over the long tube trap. Both work well and are deployed daily on our four acre garden. Targeted vertebrates ground squirrels and rabbits.

Worked very well, did the job of catching grey diggers. I used peanut butter/apricot jelly mix placed above the paddle in 3 places.

Great Trap!!! 5 Stars
Grin | June 3rd, 2021
Perfect. Easier to set than an a120 and twice as deadly while retaining safety for you!\n\nThirty minutes after setting... Dead squirrel....Humane and quick.\n\nIt's been rained on and shows no rust yet. Bled on - I washed it with peroxide, dish soap, vinegar, and baking soda. Still brand new.\n\nI recommend 10000000000% to get rid of those destructive little bastards. Though I wish it came with end caps.

8 squirrels in 2 weeks
Nicholas Dupont | October 23rd, 2020
This trap is highly effective. I caught EIGHT squirrels in two weeks (I live in an active suburb of a large city). The only shortfall is that after about five instantly-lethal traps, a few of the animals in the 6th and 8th traps were not instantly killed. I had to finish the job myself and ended up denting the trap. Wish I would have known it would still function before I threw it away.

WCS Shorty Tube - takes awhile
Kim B. Gifford | August 18th, 2020
When I first got my tube I placed it right under my bird feeders, first mistake. With all the seed on the ground around the tube, squirrels were not intrigued. One day I placed it on my flat deck rail, figured what the heck. Placed a few sunflower seeds inside and wham! Got a smart one? Set the trap with the safety on and some seeds in front of both sides. Let em eat for a day, then take the safety off, wham, not so smart after all! Just have to find the right spot and replace the metal smell with squirrel. Quick kill is also a plus, have had only one finishing touch required. Great product, you may need to get creative.
