Safeguard 53070 Rodent Trap

A couple years ago I purchased three of these trap and they were great. Well made and did the job. I recently purchased three additional traps and they are not well made. One was missing an important part to make the trigger set. One just opened when I tried to pick it up and the chip monk ran off. I will say, they refunded my money with no objections. The company is not bad to work with. They just need to improve quality control.

I caught 52 chipmunks and 17 mice in six weeks using two of these traps in one location. The video suggests burying them in mulch beds but all I did was cover them with a piece of burlap...worked like a charm. Do tweak the trigger as instructed and salt the entry with seeds for bait as well as the back of the trap. Keep the area under the trigger pan clean.

I had purchased several rodent traps to try and catch the rodent that had decided to make our home his home. I tried several different live traps. I tried the Victor Model M333. I guess he was just to big, or the trap was too complicated for him to navigate his way to the bait. I tried the Havahart, but with the way the mechanism worked and animal weight required to trigger it, I ended up just feeding my friend for several nights. Then, I ordered this Safeguard Rodent Trap. It worked the first night. Perfect for catching Roof Rats. I will be resetting it tonight to ensure that he didn't leave any friends, but this trap just works. Easy set up, no rodent contact. Perfect.
